E-book (top cover) and Paperback
The late 1800s in Northern Arizona was not a time of peaceful coexistence between the Whites and Apache Indians. Turbulent times and a sickly infant meant inevitable death for an Indian boy. The baby, Chidah, was a crybaby. Apache customs dictated that these types of infants must be killed. Under threat, concealment of Apache whereabouts required absolute silence. A crybaby could disclose their location and endanger the entire band. Luckily, when Chidah’s mother set out to rid herself of her son Yellow Hair intervened, saved the baby and took him as his own.
Yellow Hair, a white man and outcast, was kidnapped as a child by Chief Vargo. Nonetheless, Yellow Hair managed to provide Chidah with a proper and healthy upbringing. One day, the father sent his now teenage son to the trading post where evil miners were hellbent on causing big trouble. The wicked men took out their hatred for Indians on Chidah and his dog Loco, killed them, and disposed of their bodies. They also massacred a nearby encampment of peaceful Indians.
Over one hundred years later, Chidah’s resting place is disturbed. Powers not of this world resurrect Chidah and Loco from the dark depths of the water well. In an attempt to understand what has taken place, Chidah prays to summon the gods of the Four Winds who eventually appear. The deities give the scared boy a mission. He must locate the sacred burial ground where his band and family were massacred. Chidah is also commanded to destroy an office complex that is desecrating the grounds.
In order for Chidah to rest for eternity, he must find the remains of his father and entire band or be turned to dust. A very short time is allotted to accomplish this mission. If he fails, the powerful and vengeful god of Thunder will rain destruction upon the office complex with the workers inside.
While Loco eagerly leads the way, Chidah struggles to understand the directive that stipulates how to incorporate an ally. He was ordered to seek the songbird. His mind cannot grasp how a songbird can be of any help? And which songbird?
